Study abroad - knows the world, to change the world

Studying abroad is something everyone should do at a young age. I thought people living abroad to shape the educational experience that helps you feel; other people, cultures and helps to open your mind to new ways to live life.

Italy - - Kent State University Upward Bound initiative to study abroad opportunity came my way. The program is ready for us, and the first generation of college, to increase educational opportunities for low-income students are working with students like me.

Upward bound for five years I was a student and I had many connections on campus. I entered the service was about the Kent State students the opportunity to study abroad, I would have been useful to me it would be a once-in-a-lifetime experience knew.

One thing struck me is the fact that Italy has such a rich and beautiful culture. Florence, however, discuss the impact of the Roman Empire in Europe 'Roman achievement "took the class.

Florence was built during the Roman Empire; it still has some of the same building structures that are nice to see. Looking for a piece of art in Florence, looking at the history or the like. Everywhere there are stories of success and victory.

Adoption

I did, and I do not care about Italian culture, immersed in the class because it was easier to pick up the language. Florentine people to accept their culture, and I felt it was very helpful.

Florence felt free. I was free to get in, and I had no worries about not being accepted. Every day we went to a pizzeria. One day, I went and met the woman ran to the place. The next day I went into the pizzeria, and he hugged me and I "ordinary" wanted asked.

The woman looked at me differently. He was tall, had blue eyes and a beautiful olive-colored skin, and I'm a brown girl. He made me who I am. We were close during my time there, and I almost visited her every day.

People began to refer to her as my Italian mother. I was a complete stranger to them, just a day later, not many people would open their arms. I had not taken this past summer studying abroad, who may never have known how other cultures can be.

Italy and I became more aware of the differences between American cultures.

It really helped me to develop something that Florence, skin color, no barriers that carry the fact. I was in Italy, no matter your skin tone, national or ethnic, they will not label you found that.

Italians, in my opinion, people are making that has helped shape my view of the world. I race or skin tone in every society and every culture in American society deals with issues such as what we have in America is the way I learned.

A diverse group of people living in another culture and do something about it feels a bit clearer. To me, the only world I grew up in Italy before traveling to Ravenna, Ohio, a small town and I attended college in Kent, Ohio, was a small town.

For a change

Italy came home, I felt a kind of change in me.

I, I was buried under a high-school mentality was a part of me. Since returning to Florence, I was excited and empathy for other cultures and different people, and I love my life, I've wanted to learn more about other ways to lighten.

Looking for my experience, I honestly better than I do, the more enlightened human being can say. Here, then, I go out into the world from a different angle, and it will look different.

Italianized Americanized my mindset I can look or attitude issues.

The world is a great place; the different types of people and cultures. I get what they learn, process and anyone can use it when they are young have a chance to explore other cultures, and I believe that in a moment.

Open mind

my advice to anyone who is going to study abroad, this will be a life-changing experience, with the expectation you have an open mind.

To be able to change the world, you need to know what you're trying to change. You do not know what the reason; there is no way you can save the world.

My advice for parents is to encourage this practice; Give your children a great opportunity. There is another great thing about being able to empathize with the culture. Lived in a different country can be proud to do something nice about.

I am proud to be an American citizen and I am proud to accept Italy. I am no longer a small town, I left the closed-minded girl. Will continue to grow and mature as time goes by now a well-rounded, I'm open-minded young woman.

Here, then, I do, I with me throughout my college years at Kent State, and life will be thought out than what I am.
